Soweto Tours - Full day tour - Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays

Johannesburg

Activity Description

Embark on a captivating journey through Soweto, where the tapestry of its history is intricately woven into South Africa’s epic struggle for freedom. Join us as we unveil the remarkable chapters of this township, beginning with the iconic Soccer City and venturing into the time-honored streets of Kliptown, an ancient district that holds the secrets of Soweto’s past. Immerse yourself in the poignant narratives at the Hector Pieterson Museum, a powerful tribute to the heroes who fought for justice. Wander along the hallowed Vilikazi Street, once graced by the presence of Mandela and Tutu, and be inspired by their indomitable spirit.

Our unforgettable adventure continues as we indulge in the flavors of a traditional kota lunch, savoring the authentic culinary traditions that embody the soul of Soweto. To crown this extraordinary experience, we conclude with a visit to the revered Constitutional Hill (Mondays only) and Apartheid Museum (Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays), a site that bears witness to the triumph of democracy. Our full-day tour promises to leave you enriched, enlightened, and connected to the enduring legacy of Soweto’s journey towards liberation.

Customer Reviews

Tsepo, Keize and the whooole crew of this organisation is so loving, caring and yet also very professional in what they are doing. Amazing tour, lots of information, but also fun and loving day. All they wanna do is spread the love. Definitly gonna be visiting them again! - Amina

With Curiosity we took the Soweto full day tour and the Inner-city walking tour, we are a family of three and we loved every bit of the tours, our two guides Zepo and Eko have great, kind personalities and explained us so much about Joburg, Soweto, Maboneng and the Inner-city area, shared it's contradictions and the vibe, it was so inspiring to visit Mandela's House, Hector's Pieterson Memorial and the Little Rose Center in Kliptown, to see how much there is still to do to meliorate the lifes of so many and seeing such dedication to help. Later we really enjoyed the food at Lebo's. As the Apartheid museum was closed we visited Costitution Hill and our guide there was so capable in bringing to life the past and present history and explaining some artworks. On our second tour, the inner-city walking, at the start we were a bit nervous cause of Joburg reputation but being with our guide Eko we felt safe and welcomed everywhere, we loved to see the murals, the revitalized Maboneng precint with it's art and music studios and passig by Kentridge's studio, feel the busy atmosphere and watching the city from the rooftop of Hallmark House, visiting the Kwa Mai Mai market and a lot more... Wow! Johannesburg really ought to be more visited and lived and we are sure that in the next future this fascinating city will thrive nicely, I wish we had more days to explore, this trip really fulfilled our memories, thank you so much for what you do and for sharing it with us, Sala Kahle! - Elena

We took the full day SoWeTo and apartheid museum tour. The tour was very well organized and our guide was willing to answer all the many questions we had. It was very interesting and I recommend it to try understand a bit of a part of South Africa that might be out from touristic highlights. Apartheid museum is vast but very interesting, describing recent historical facts of which we did not have deep knowledge. At Curiocity, people are so nice and welcoming - Daniela
